Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has won orders worth around $30 million for the construction of a new 400 kV substation to power a new steel complex in Algeria’s north-eastern Jijel province.

Under the contract, ABB will design, supply, install and commission the air-insulated switchgear (AIS) substation with power transformers and high- and medium-voltage switchgear, the manufacturer states in the press release.

The Bellara Steel Complex, owned and operated by Algerian-Qatari-Steel (AQS), will help to reduce the country’s dependence on steel imports.
