Atlantic City Electric undertakes $70M equipment upgrade

USA, New Jersey: Atlantic City Electric (ACE) is undertaking a $70 million equipment upgrade at the Peermont substation on Seven Mile Island, with construction and demolition taking place at the same time.

 


USA, New Jersey: Atlantic City Electric (ACE) is undertaking a $70 million equipment upgrade at the Peermont substation on Seven Mile Island, with construction and demolition taking place at the same time.

The facility housing 23 kV lines was de-energized on 6 October and will be demolished early this week. Meanwhile, construction on a new facility that will house 69 kV electrical equipment is underway, reports Press of Atlantic City.

The new electrical equipment will include power transformers, circuit breakers and relays, according to ACE spokesman Frank Tedesco.

The new substation, which is part of the 27-km project from Middle Township to Stone Harbor and Avalon and back to Middle Township, will supply all of Stone Harbor’s power by 2018.
