Fire engulfs three transformers at a Kolkata substation

India, Kolkata: A massive fire broke out at the Dum Dum substation of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) in Kolkata city, West Bengal on Friday.

 


India, Kolkata: A massive fire broke out at the Dum Dum substation of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) in Kolkata city, West Bengal on Friday.

According to Daily News & Analysis, three transformers were gutted in the fire. 15 firefighters were pressed into service to douse the blaze, putting the fire under control. There were no reports of any injury.

According to later reports by Zee News, CESC personnel stated there was a fire at one of the 33 kV transformers inside the distribution station. The affected transformer was de-energised and supply to the area restored from alternative sources.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
