Germany: After over 15 years, comprehensive retrofit measurements have been implemented on the 80 MVA phase shifter transformer owned by German electricity provider Allgäuer Überlandwerk GmbH (AÜW), which was commissioned in the 1990s.

The work performed by Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) included the replacement of the two on-load tap-changer inserts for longitudinal and diagonal regulation, which previously used oil technology, with modern on-load tap-changer inserts with vacuum switch technology, the manufacturer states in the press release.

Other improvements included installation of new voltage regulators with ISM® technology, and three motor-drive units, which have been newly installed to ensure the safe and reliable drive of the tap changer and de-energized tap-changer.

The entire system, consisting of drives and a voltage regulator, was validated in a special testing facility.
