Abengoa, a Seville-based international company supplying technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, has been awarded the engineering and construction contract for two new power transmission lines, a substation and the extension of an existing line in Chile, worth more than $180 million.

The engineering and construction project for the 150 km line that will connect the IX and X regions in Chile includes construction of a substation with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, and a 20-year concession.

The second project consists of the construction of a substation in the VI region in Chile and is expected to be completed within 24 months.

In all four projects, Abengoa will be responsible for supplying, assembling and testing the equipment, and commissioning the system. Work on the projects is scheduled to start at the end of 2015.
