Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) has placed over $60 million orders with ABB for the supply of three turnkey substation solutions for residential and industrial areas in Dubai, as part of UAE’s efforts to strengthen power infrastructure.

The project includes the design, supply, installation and commissioning of three 132/11 kV substations in Majan, Nad Al Hammar and Maaden, the manufacturer states in the press release.

The substations will be equipped with power transformers rated at 50 MVA, high and medium-voltage switchgear including a gas-insulated switchgear, a new air-insulated switchgear and automation and controls.

The substations will also be equipped with capacitor banks that will help to reduce electricity losses and improve the stability and quality of power supply.
