ADB grants $600M loan for power system upgrades

Indonesia, Sumatra: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide $600 million loan to Indonesia’s state electricity corporation, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), to upgrade transmission and distribution system in Sumatra.

 


Indonesia, Sumatra: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide $600 million loan to Indonesia’s state electricity corporation, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), to upgrade transmission and distribution system in Sumatra.

The funds will be used to extend substations and install new and upgraded equipment, as well as to upgrade the existing 150 kV transmission lines, reports Energy Business Review.

Under the distribution work, the funds will be used to expand and reinforce the medium-voltage and low-voltage networks, including the installation of new distribution transformers.

The work on the project is scheduled to start this month, and is expected to be completed by December 2019.
