Massive power breakdown hits Pakistan after transformer fire

Pakistan, Lahore: A massive power breakdown plunged major parts Pakistan into darkness on Thursday, after the Guddu power plant in Sukkur defaulted due to transformer fire.

 


Pakistan, Lahore: A massive power breakdown plunged major parts of Pakistan into darkness on Thursday, after the Guddu power plant in Sukkur defaulted due to transformer fire.

After transformer at Guddu Thermal Power Plant in Sukkur, Sindh reportedly caught fire, the load was shifted onto the Mangla and Tarbela grid stations but they tripped, causing a blackout across most of the country, reports Daily Pakistan.

Electricity supply was suspended in Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Quetta, and Peshawar and other cities and towns across the country.
