Ketraco building $26.5M substation in Nairobi

Kenya, Nairobi: The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) has awarded a contract to CAMCE China for the construction of a new substation in Nairobi County which will be able to withstand more than 2000 MW of power produced.

 


Kenya, Nairobi: The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) has awarded a contract to CAMCE China for the construction of a new substation in Nairobi County which will be able to withstand more than 2000 MW of power produced.

Building of the new 400/220 kV substation at Mariakani, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will be funded by the African Development Bank at a cost of $26.5 million, reports Standard Digital.

After the project is completed more power will be delivered to Nairobi through the company’s Mombasa-Nairobi line.
