GE and Petrofac win $157M wind project in UK waters

United Kingdom: General Electric (GE) and oilfield services company Petrofac Ltd. have been awarded a $157 million contract to build and install a turnkey power system for the 336-MW Galloper offshore wind project in British waters.

 


United Kingdom: General Electric (GE) and oilfield services company Petrofac Ltd. have been awarded a $157 million contract to build and install a turnkey power system for the 336-MW Galloper offshore wind project in British waters.

Under the terms of the deal, GE will provide overall electrical system design and onshore and offshore substation equipment, including power transformers, gas insulated switchgear, two static VAR compensators and all ancillary and supporting electrical equipment, reports SeeNews Renewables.

Petrofac will take care of the topside and jacket foundation designs, fabrication, transport and installation of the offshore substation and offshore logistics to back hook-up and commissioning of the wind park.

The offshore substation for the wind park is scheduled for completion in 2017 and the plant is scheduled to start operations in March 2018.
