The Philippines, Baguio: The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) inaugurated last week a new 50 MVA transformer in its North Sanitary Camp Barangay substation aiming to provide enough power supply to consumers and improve its services.

The new transformer will also serve as an alternate power source which can help reduce power outage during BENECO’s regular maintenance work, reports PIA.

BENECO’s General Manager, Gerardo Versoza, disclosed that the company is looking into establishing an underground power system initially for Baguio’s Central Business District (CBD).

“Once in place the underground system will ensure least disturbance (power outage) even during the typhoon season,” Versoza explained.
