Siemens Traction Transformers has received the first frame contract from Transmashholding (TMH), Russian manufacturer of locomotives and rail equipment.
The contract comprises the delivery of traction transformers for the 2 Section 2ES5S locomotive which is a new generation of freight locomotives of TMH in Russia, the manufacturer states in the press release.
The frame contract includes first orders for 4 transformers that have to be delivered within a timeline in 2016.
The start for series production of locomotive is expected in 2017 with a project volume of 150 transformers until 2021.
