German operator orders 102 eco-friendly distribution transformers

Germany: Siemens has successfully tested and delivered the first units of distribution transformers for a German transmission grid operator Netze BW insulated with Midel eN natural ester.
The ecological transformers will be installed in the overall service area of Netze BW, with special attention to environmental protection, the company said in the press release.
Netze BW operates around 26,500 distribution transformers, 1,000 of which must be replaced annually or reinstalled.
As the first step the operator ordered 102 natural-ester-insulated distribution transformers.
Once installed, the transformers will be closely monitored by Netze BW and the results will be evaluated over a specific period of time to further assess the benefits of this alternative insulation.
