Zambia: A cargo consisting of six new power transformer units for a hydroelectric power station in Kafue Gorge, Zambia has been delivered and installed by a Dutch heavy-lifting company.

Each of the six transformers, weighing 105 tons, had to be installed within deep caves below Kafue Gorge Upper hydroelectric project, reports Breakbulk.

The installation area was located at a depth of 1.2 km and the only access tunnel provided only a few centimetres clearance above the transformers in certain places.

The power plant, owned and operated by Zesco, is located in the southern Chikankata district, about 90 km away from Lusaka, the capital and largest city of Zambia.
