BTW successfully tests 200 MVA, 330 kV phase-shifting auto transformer
China, Baoding: Chinese transformer manufacturer Baoding Tianwei Baobian Electrical Co., Ltd., (BTW) has successfully tested a 200 MVA/330 kV phase-shifting auto transformer, independently developed for a customer in Ghana.
China, Baoding: Chinese transformer manufacturer Baoding Tianwei Baobian Electrical Co., Ltd., (BTW) has successfully tested a 200 MVA/330 kV phase-shifting auto transformer, independently developed for a customer in Ghana.
The unit is one of the two 330 kV phase-shifting auto transformers to be supplied by BTW to Ghana Grid Company Ltd. Its properties fully meet the requirements of the contract, and have been approved by the customer and Italian experts employed by the customer as supervisors.
With the HV rated voltage of 330 kV, and the LV rated voltage of 161 kV, this phase-shifting auto transformer will be used to connect two power grids with different voltage levels in Ghana.
Besides having the on-load voltage regulation function at LV, the auto transformer can also regulate the phase angles between HV and LV through an OLTC, which is a special phase-shifting function that can help the user conveniently improve active power distribution between parallel circuits or power grids with different voltages.
