USA, Pennsylvania: Pittsburgh-based steel producer Allegheny Technologies announced the elimination of 250 jobs in the company’s flat-rolled products division.

The company also announced it would close its grain-oriented electrical steel operation in Gilpin Township, Armstrong County, which will affect further several hundred employees, reports The Times.

ATI President Rich Harshman said the latest cuts and idling of operation are a direct result of the poor domestic steel market, which has forced other companies including U.S. Steel and TMK IPSCO to downsize their operations.
