Switzerland, Zurich: ABB and Cavotec have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly offer shore-to-ship power solutions to global ports markets, boosting “green ports”.
Switzerland, Zurich: ABB and Cavotec have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly offer shore-to-ship power solutions to global ports markets, boosting “green ports”.
ABB will contribute technologies for port electrification, power transformers, control and protection equipment and frequency conversion systems, while Cavotec will contribute interface equipment and cable management systems, ABB said in a statement.
Such solutions will allow vessels to plug into onshore power supply and shut down their engines, eliminating noxious emissions, noise and vibrations while berthed in ports that are often located in city surrounds.
