Siemens to provide transformers for 14,400 MW project in Egypt
Egypt, Cairo: Egypt will add 14,400 MW to its national electricity grid by May 2018, after completion of three combined-cycle natural gas projects to be implemented in Borolos, the New Administrative Capital, and Beni Suef, which will be modelled on the Fortuna power plant in the German city of Dusseldorf.

As part of the projects, three 550 kV gas-insulated transformers stations will be established with power transformers and associated electrical equipment. The equipment provider is Siemens, and the company will oversee the installation of the power plants, reports Daily News.
At the New Administrative Capital project, the plant is already operating a temporary generator, and another gas turbine equipped with its own generator and a single transformer of 500 KV will be installed in June.
At the Borolos power station in May, four generator transformers of 500 kV will be installed over the course of June and July.
The three stations are expected to be able to produce enough power to meet the needs of 45 million people, by increasing to the total grid’s current capacity by 50%.
