First 765 kV transformer manufactured in U.S. in 25 years
Japan, Tokyo: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced that Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI), a Mitsubishi Electric's subsidiary based in the North America, shipped its first high-capacity 765 kV power transformer to a U.S utility company American Electric Power (AEP) at the end of April.

(MEPPI), a Mitsubishi Electric’s subsidiary based in the North America, shipped its first high-capacity 765 kV power transformer to a U.S utility company American Electric Power (AEP) at the end of April.
The shell-type 765 kV transformer was manufactured at the company’s factory in Memphis, Tennessee, and is the first transformer of this category to be produced at MEPPI as well as the first to be manufactured locally in the United States in 25 years.
The new 765 kV transformer uses a shell-type design and has a 750 MVA rating.
