GE introduces first green transformer for rail transportation

France, Paris: GE has announced it recently introduced the first environmentally-friendly transformer designed for railway applications in Germany.

 


France, Paris: GE has announced it recently introduced the first environmentally-friendly transformer designed for railway applications in Germany.

Manufactured and installed in Germany, this transformer uses a bio-degradable ester fluid in replacement of the conventional mineral oil, the manufacture said in a statement.

The transformer successfully completed the short-circuit test by the Dutch Institute KEMA, which was a requirement for the delivery and its subsequent installation in Germany.
