Canada, British Columbia: Two new power transformers have been delivered to the site of the Big Bend substation being built by BC Hydro in south Burnaby, British Columbia.

The two transformers had arrived in Canada from Korea, where they were manufactured, earlier this year, and as the work on the substation progressed, it was time to transport them to the substation, BC Hydro said in a statement.

The Big Bend substation, expected to be in service in the spring of 2017, will supply power to an area of Burnaby expected to grow, in terms of electricity demand, by 20% in the next 10 years.

BC Hydro has already announced it will need to build another substation closer to the customers to keep providing reliable power to the fast growing Big Bend area.
