As part of leadership succession planning, ABB has appointed Tauno Heinola as Managing Director of ABB in Australia, effective 1 October 2016.

Heinola will succeed Axel Kuhr, who will become Managing Director in Japan, the company said in a statement.

The appointments are part of a leadership succession at ABB: Kuhr replaces Tony Zeitoun, who is currently Managing Director in Japan and will retire from ABB at the end of the year, while Pekka Tiitinen, currently President of the Discrete Automation and Motion (DM) division, will succeed Heinola as Managing Director in Finland.

Pekka Tiitinen will be replaced by Sami Atiya, who joins ABB as President of the DM division.

Before joining ABB, Atiya served Siemens for 18 years in the US and Europe.
