Canada, British Columbia: BC Hydro has completed the $23 million (CAD 32 million) Buckley Bay substation which will help meet the growing electricity needs of the Comox Valley.

The project involved the construction of a new outdoor substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, next to existing transmission lines located beside Highway 19.

There was an additional investment to connect the substation to the local electricity distribution system, the company said in the statement.

This infrastructure investment is part of the B.C.’s $2 billion a year investment plan for B.C.’s electricity system aimed at ensuring reliable power for the province’s growing electricity demand.
