Cameroon secures $1.2B funding for 420 MW hydroelectric project
Cameroon: French electricity producer EDF and the World Bank will assist the government of Cameroon in West Africa to fund a $1.2 billion hydroelectric project, which is said to provide power for up to a third of the country's electricity needs.
Cameroon: French electricity producer EDF and the World Bank will assist the government of Cameroon in West Africa to fund a $1.2 billion hydroelectric project, which is said to provide power for up to a third of the country’s electricity needs.
The project, which will include construction of the infrastructure and installation of all requisite electrical equipment, as well as the construction of a 50-km transmission line that will connect the plant to the main Yaounde grid, is expected to commence in October this year and come online in 2021, reports ESI-Africa.
The facility will be built 65 kilometres from the capital city, Yaounde, on the Sanaga River.
