Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has won an order worth more than $30 million from Norway’s transmission system operator Statnett for two substations that will strengthen grid reliability and boost power supplies in Norway.

As part of the contract, the manufacturer will supply all the major electrical equipment for two new 420 kV substations at Lyse and Fjotland, including the 420 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), live tank circuit breakers, instrument transformers and surge arresters, the company said in a press release.

The substations will also play a key role in connecting the Norwegian grid to those of the UK and Germany and are a part of the Vestre korridor (Western Corridor) project.
