TANESCO to invest $205M in power distribution system upgrades

Tanzania: Tanzania’s TANESCO has revealed the company put aside $205 million to cover the costs of power distribution infrastructure improvements planned for the financial year 2016/17.

 


Tanzania: Tanzania’s TANESCO has revealed the company put aside $205 million to cover the costs of power distribution infrastructure improvements planned for the financial year 2016/17.

According to the media, the Mwanza regional manager for TANESCO, Sarah Assey, stated that company is targeting to deploy qualified contractors in efforts to improve the power distribution system and accelerate the implementation of power projects, reports ESI-Africa.

The funds will also be allocated to rural electrification projects. Assey stated that a total of 393 villages in the region are expected to benefit from the project’s third phase.
