$238M power projects planned in West Virginia

USA, West Virginia: To help enhance service reliability for customers, FirstEnergy Corp. is implementing distribution and transmission infrastructure projects totalling approximately $238 million in Mon Power's 34-county West Virginia service area.

 


USA, West Virginia: To help enhance service reliability for customers, FirstEnergy Corp. is implementing distribution and transmission infrastructure projects totalling approximately $238 million in Mon Power’s 34-county West Virginia service area.

The works underway include a $76 million construction project of a new transmission substation near Smithfield, W.Va., as well as building a two-mile transmission line to connect the new substation with the plant, FirstEnergy said in a statement.

The projects further include building a new substation and two new, three-mile power lines near Greenwood, W. Va., at a cost of about $5 million, and adding a second transformer to a substation near Cassville, W. Va.

All projects are planned for the summer and the remainder of 2016.
