The Philippines, Cagayan De Oro City: National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has successfully energized its newly upgraded Opol Substation in Misamis Oriental to address the load growth in North Mindanao.

The substation has been upgraded with a new 75 MVA power transformer, complying with the N-1 requirement of the Philippine Grid Code, which is the ability of the grid to withstand a major system disturbance through a back-up equipment to prevent outage when other facilities are not available or on scheduled shutdown.

This will ensure improved power quality by addressing possible low voltage that may be experienced by customers in the area. The substation is strategically placed in the middle of Lugait Substation and Tagoloan Substation to ease their loads.
