USA, Maryland: A fire broke out at a power plant in Maryland, just over the Pennsylvania border.

The incident happened at the Old Dominion Electric Co-Operative facility which is under construction on the 1300 block of Rock Springs Road near Conowingo, reports WGAL.

Officials say a transformer containing over 83,000 litres of mineral oil caught fire inside a fire suppression vessel, sending black smoke billowing into the air.

The facility was evacuated. No one was hurt and officials say there is no hazardous materials threat to the public.
