USA, New Jersey: Montvale officials have inaugurated a new substation from Rockland Electric Company in Montvale, New Jersey.

The robust $20 million substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will improve the company’s ability to switch power from damaged circuits to alternate ones in the event of a storm, as well as handle high electric demands during summer months from sister substations in the area, reports North Jersey.

“This substation is the first substation designed under Rockland Electric’s post-Superstorm Sandy advanced storm-hardening criteria,” said Rockland Electric Company President and CEO Tim Cawley in the release.
