USA, Los Angeles: Scattered transformer fires around Los Angeles left thousands of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) customers without electricity on Monday morning following the overnight rain storm.

There were as many as 20 transformer and utility pole fires, according to the LADWP spokesman Michael Ventre said, reports CBS.

At least 24,000 customers were without power, with the hardest hit areas including San Pedro, Hollywood, and Venice.

The causes of the outages were under investigation and the crews worked around the clock to restore service to those without power.
