Germany, Schwedt: Two large power transformers have made their way through Schwedt, a town in north-eastern Brandenburg near the Polish border, on their way to the construction site of the new Vierraden substation.

It took two low-loaders to transport the transformers, weighing 311 tonne each, with the help of additional structures, the carrying handles, mounted at the front and the rear of the transformer, and fastened to the two heavy load trailers, reports MOZ.

The two giant transformers make the heart of the new substation built by 50Hetz next to the existing substation In Vierraden, a $55 million upgrade project from 220 to 380 kV.

The substation is also a part of the German-Polish transmission interlink project, for which purpose four phase-shifting transformers have been installed earlier in the year, two of which are already online.
