GERMANY, Stuttgart: GE Power’s Grid Solutions business and German transmission system operator TransnetBW have signed a contract for a turnkey solution to upgrade the 380 kV Eichstetten substation, which is one of the substations in “Badische Rheinschiene” region, a highly loaded link in the transmission grid of southwest Germany.

The project includes delivery of 22 bays of 400 kV GIS to provide reduced substation footprint, increased capacity, and a reduced environmental impact, GE said in a press release.

GE’s Grid Solutions team will design, produce, supply and commission the bays, with associated buildings and control cabinets.
