Lagos, Nigeria: Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, commissioned its first offshore substation in Ilashe Island, Oriade Local Government Development Area, in Lagos State.

The project will deliver about 24 megawatts power to Ilashe, Ibese, Ikare, Igbologun and Ilado Odo communities. Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola said: “To connect electricity over the lagoon was handled by staff in TCN while making adequate efforts not to interfere with the natural navigation over the lagoon.” Fashola said that over $414 000 was spent to install the substation, adding that the project will also attract other huge investments into the community and open it up to accelerated growth.

Fashola urged the management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) to fast track the distribution of power supply to all.
