Chile: Spanish group Abengoa SA was hired by Chilean forestry and timber company Celulosa Arauco y Constitucion SA (Arauco) to carry out the transmission works for a biomass plant.

Abengoa will build a 220 kV transmission line along with two substations to connect Arauco’s biomass power generation plant to the National Electric System through the Lagunillas substation, owned by local transmission company Transelec SA.

These works follow under the Modernization and Expansion of the Arauco Plant project (MAPA). The biomass plant will be self-sufficient and will feed its surplus power into the national power grid.
