Australia: Queensland government pledged to tip $132 M into construction of a transmission line, which will link the renewables hub with the main grid.

A 186 km single circuit line from the Kidston project to Mount Fox near Ingham will be built, linking the hinterland to the National Electricity Market.

This will help the Genex project to co-locate the 250 MW pumped hydro facility, with about eight hours of storage, with an existing 50 MW solar farm and a planned second stage 270 MW solar farm.

Genex CEO James Harding said the state government support it would also help unlock further stages for the Kidston Clean Energy Hub, including the additional 270 MW of solar and up to 150 MW of wind.
