BLM approves Arizona-California transmission line
US: The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has issued a Record of Decision approving the 500 kV transmission line by DCR Transmission LLC that will connect existing substations near Tonopah, Arizona, and Blythe, California.
US: The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has issued a Record of Decision approving the 500 kV transmission line by DCR Transmission LLC that will connect existing substations near Tonopah, Arizona, and Blythe, California.
The project is designed to strengthen grid reliability and efficiency for customers in Arizona and California.
The BLM decision is based on the Final Environmental Impact Statement from last September and approved amendments to a BLM management plan in Arizona and a California desert conservation plan.
The BLM’s plan calls for routing the transmission line mostly within existing utility corridors or parallel to existing infrastructure to avoid popular recreation areas, the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, the U.S. Army’s Yuma Proving round, local communities and tribal lands.
The project still needs approvals in Arizona and California.
