Spain, Talayuela: Talayuela solar project is a 300 MW solar park being developed in Cáceres city in Spain.

A 400 / 30 kV substation with a 350 MVA power transformer will form a major component of the plant. A 21.4 km long simple circuit 400k V ‘duplex’ power line will transfer power from the solar plant to the Arañuelo Substation. The substation is owned by Red Eléctrica Española, the national energy grid operator of Spain.

The plant will transmit 4,300 GWh of power for ten years under a long-term power purchase agreement signed by Encavis. The project will generate annual sales of approximately $28 M (€25 M) from the first full year of operation.

Talayuela solar project is being developed with an estimated investment of $250 M  (€225 M). The European Investment Bank invested $84.7 M, and the project secured a total funding of $190 M from EIB and Deutsche Bank.
The Talayuela solar project is estimated to power 150,000 homes while offsetting 165,000 t of carbon dioxide emissions annually. It will be one of the biggest solar projects in Europe and one of the biggest photovoltaic plants on the Iberian Peninsula.
