Greece, Athens:  A consortium of Siemens and Terna has been awarded a $410 M (€370 M) contract as part of a $1.1 B (€1 B) Greek power project to link Athens to the island of Crete, power grid operator ADMIE IPTO Holding said on 31 March.

Last year, Siemens-Terna and GE-Nari-Mytilinaios submitted binding offers to Ariadne Interconnection, a unit of ADMIE IPTO which is handling the project, for the supply and installation of two converters and a substation in 36 months, ADMIE IPTO said.

“The technical evaluation was completed on 13 March 2020, and the offer of the Siemens – Terna consortium qualified”, it said.

In 2019, ADMIE IPTO picked Prysmian and Nexans to build two undersea cables. Hellenic Cables and NKT were also picked to build the onshore cables to connect the converter stations in Athens and Crete to the undersea cables.
