Finland, Vaasa: The investment will significantly increase the production capacity of the Vaasa transformer plant.

With the investment, the company will recruit about 30 new employees over the next year.

“Electrification plays a key role in halting climate change, and the transformer is one of the key technologies in the ongoing energy revolution that will enable us to have a stronger, smarter, and more environmentally friendly electricity grid. The investment enables us to maintain delivery security at the highest level and it improves our ability to meet the constantly growing expectations of our customers and the market in the future,”says Matti Vaattovaara, President and CEO of ABB Power Grids Finland.

With the line investment, ABB Power Grids will expand the use of its factory premises in Strömberg Park, Vaasa, and recruit a total of about 30 new employees as of early June. Production recruitments are carried out as apprenticeship training together with the vocational training organization Vamia.

“I am glad that we can offer dozens of new talents the chance to grow into top experts and build a future of sustainable energy for generations to come. We have had a great experience in apprenticeship training for several decades, ”says Toni Koskinen, Business Director for transformers.
