Scotland: Malaysian steel fabricator Eversendai Corporation has secured two offshore wind substation contracts from Petrofac worth a combined $44 M (RM186 M, €38.7 M).
The deals include fabrication and construction of an offshore substation platform topside, jacket and piles for a UK offshore wind project.
The name of the wind farm was not disclosed although it is understood to be SSE’s 1057 MW Seagreen off the coast of Scotland.
Also included in the scope of work is engineering, sea-fastening, and loadout as well as HVAC, architectural, and mechanical completion and pre-commissioning.
Eversendai will do the work at its 200,000 m2 waterfront fabrication yard in RAK Maritime City, Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.
The second deal is for fabrication and construction of a jacket and piles for the 700 MW Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) Beta offshore wind substation platform.
The scope of work for Hollandse Kust Zuid Beta contract includes engineering, fabrication, construction, sea-fastening and loadout of the jacket and piles.
Eversendai Offshore chief executive Narish Nathan said, “This is a significant achievement that marks our continued expansion in the offshore wind renewable energy sector; a market we recognise is vital for the world’s future clean energy needs.″
“This diversification into the offshore wind renewable energy sector continues to promote our diversification efforts of growing our business into industries that leverages on our fabrication facilities and core expertise in engineering, fabrication and construction,” Nathan added.
