Work is underway on a $1 M (£825,000) upgrade of an electricity substation serving more than 2,200 homes and businesses in the north of Dundee.

UK, Scotland, Dundee: Work is underway on a $1 M (£825,000) upgrade of an electricity substation serving more than 2,200 homes and businesses in the north of Dundee.
The Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) refurbishment of the Lyndhurst substation will be carried out in two phases between now and February 2021.
By replacing the substation’s two existing transformers, bosses say they intend to make local electricity supplies more robust and resilient as well as reducing the risk of power cuts.
Preparatory work has taken place in recent weeks to make the site ready for the delivery of the new devices, the first of which is scheduled to arrive in early autumn.
The transformers, which form a critical part of the electricity network supplying more than 2,200 customers across the north of Dundee, will be housed in new bunds within the substation, the first of which is currently under construction.
