Sweden: On 25 August, Hitachi ABB Power Grids signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Uppsala University.

The partnership between is based on common interests and mutual benefits to create a sustainable social development.

“Together, we will develop the University’s education to further increase students’ employment opportunities and increase Hitachi ABB Power Grid’s recruitment base, while the partnership is also an important platform for new joint research projects, ” said Jenny Larsson, CEO of Hitachi ABB Power Grids.

Larsson added, “We are proud of the collaboration agreement with Uppsala University and look forward to taking this further, to create value for both parties.”

Hitachi ABB and Uppsala University have long engaged in various forms of collaboration. Since the 1960s, in particular, the University’s engineering and technology programmes have made the contact even more relevant.

The strategic partnership now signed resembles the partnership agreement that the University had previously with Hitachi ABB and may involve joint research projects, study visits, workshops, summer jobs and degree projects.

The programme for the signing day included presentations and discussions on artificial intelligence, the challenge of attracting more women to electrical engineering programmes, and a practical example of how to combine research at a university and a company.
