Michel Augonnet appointed President of CIGRE

Michel Augonnet has taken the position of the new President of CIGRE, and Michael Heyeck became the Vice President of Finance (Treasurer).

France, Paris: Michel Augonnet has taken the position of the new President of CIGRE, and Michael Heyeck became the Vice President of Finance (Treasurer).

The two join Marcio Szechtman, VP Technical, Chair of the prestigious CIGRE Technical Council, as the CIGRE office holders. Being at the helm of the association, this group forms a highly expert team.

Michel Augonnet has been President of MVAconnect, a consulting and engineering firm in the Energy field since 2016. He is an industry recognised leader: the president of SuperGrid Institute, member of the board of AEG Power Solutions, Mastergrid SA in Grenoble, and an alternate board director for ACTOM (PTY) South Africa. Prior, he was senior vice-president for commercial solutions reporting to the president of Alstom Grid. He led the regional organisation including the sales organisation, turnkey projects, and service as well as the project management office for Alstom Grid with $4 B revenue and 20,000 employees.

Michael Heyeck founded The Grid Group, LLC in 2013 serving the electric utility industry on several boards, tapping over 40 years of industry experience. He retired in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Transmission at American Electric Power, responsible for AEP’s 11-state transmission system, including Officer and Board positions for several AEP affiliates. He also held leadership positions in AEP’s Corporate Planning & Budgeting. He joined AEP in 1976. Heyeck currently serves on Boards of 1) Qualus Power Services Corp, 2) Caravels LLC, dba Georgia Transformer Corp, 3) Virginia Transformer Corp, and 4) Commonwealth Associates, Inc.
