New 5 MVA Cotelco substation in NoCot

The Philippines, North Cotabato, Carmen: On 4 September, the Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) inaugurated the newly-built 5 MVA substation to meet the growing demand for electricity in the area.
Godofredo Homez, Cotelco general manager, was joined by Mayor Moises Arendain and other local officials, among others, in the launching of the 1.4 M (PHP70 M) project.
Homez said the rapid growth of local business establishments and the number of electricity consumers prompted Cotelco to meet the increasing power demand in the municipality. “We tend to ensure power reliability and deter any shortage, outages, and fluctuations to lure potential investors under our coverage area”, Homez said.
Homez also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the National Electrification Administration, which eyes the total electrification in the countryside by 2022.
The new Cotelco substation will serve this town and plans to extend its cross-country lines to adjacent Banisilan town that currently taps its power supply from the First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative based in Maramag, Bukidnon.
Arendain commended Cotelco for putting the project in their vicinity, which also substantiates their developmental efforts to improve the town’s economic, livelihood, and tourism industries.
Cotelco is also set to energise the 20 MVA substation in Kidapawan City anytime next month to augment the rising power demand in the capital.
The company has eight operating substations that serve 160,000 residential, public, commercial, and industrial power consumers in Kidapawan City and 11 of 17 municipalities in the province.
