Croatia, Zagreb: KONČAR and HOPS signed a contract for “Revitalisation of central remote control systems for the power system by upgrade to a new version”, a project worth $7.77 M (HRK49.9 M).

President of the Management Board of KONČAR – Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering Inc. (KONČAR – KET), Željko Tukša, and President of the Management Board of Croatian Transmission System Operator Ltd. (HOPS), Tomislav Plavšić signed the contract on 4 November 2020 in Zagreb.

The complex project of upgrading HOPS’s existing SCADA / EMS / AGC / OTS systems to a new version of hardware and software is being implemented with a view of ensuring long-term sustainability of those central systems and introducing new functionalities in order to adequately support new business processes, digitalization and automation.

Timeframe for contract performance will be 39 months, plus 36 months of maintenance during the warranty period.

Some of the biggest challenges of this project lie in implementation of the new system while simultaneously ensuring continuity of operation of the existing one, and meeting the highest security and quality standards in power system control in the process.

This project is a continuation of successful, already decades-long cooperation between KONČAR and HOPS. Implementation of new technology and advanced solutions through this project will provide an additional contribution to the strengthening of competitiveness and serve as an important business reference for an even more successful performance of KONČAR on the global market.
