USA, Connecticut, Hartford: Eversource said that it is finalizing work on the $61 M Greater Hartford Central Connecticut Reliability Project

The 6 km (3.7 mi) project is now in service and providing additional system reliability for customers in the greater Hartford region.

The project includes enhancements to two local substations and a new 115 kV electric transmission line from Newington to Hartford, the company said, noting that the line route passes through portions of Newington, West Hartford, and Hartford along existing Eversource and Amtrak rights of way, as well as under some town streets.

As noted on the project’s webpage, the upgrades enable power to be redirected — for instance, north to south — during time of high customer demand. The substations involved are the Newington substation in Newington and the Southwest Hartford substation in Harford, the company noted.

Restoration and landscape work related to the project will continue through the fall and winter, the company said in its statement.
