NKT named preferred supplier for European offshore wind farm

NKT has entered into a PSA as main contractor for delivery and installation of HVDC onshore and offshore export cable systems to a European offshore wind farm.

Denmark, Brondby: NKT stated in a release that it has entered into a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) as main contractor for delivery and installation of HVDC onshore and offshore export cable systems to a European offshore wind farm.

The potential order for NKT will comprise the manufacture and delivery of more than 500 km total production length of 320 kV DC offshore export power cables, accessories as well as installation by the cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria.

For NKT, the order is expected to have an estimated contract value of above $297 M (€250 M) in market prices, equivalent to approximately $237 M (€200 M) in standard metal prices.

A firm order is conditional upon final contract negotiations and that the project owners provide NKT a notice to proceed, the NKT release said.

NKT Victoria is a high-technology cable laying vessel of which NKT took delivery in April 2017, is one of the world’s most advanced and fuel-efficient, cable-laying vessels, capable of simultaneous dual HVDC and fibre-optic cable-laying, HVAC and deep-sea installation with high-capacity tensioning system.
