USA, Missouri, Jefferson City: Ameren has finalised and energised a $1.4 B transmission line between the states of Missouri and Indiana.

The Illinois Rivers project of Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI) is a 603.5 km, 345 kV transmission line from Palmyra in Missouri to Sugar Creek in Indiana. In addition to increasing the transmission capacity, the new line improves the reliability of the energy grid and provides access to both lower-cost energy and electricity from renewable sources for Midwestern families and businesses, the unit of Ameren Corporation said in a statement.

“Our country’s future energy security and sustainability depends on a strong transmission system to enable the transition from coal to renewable energy,” said Shawn Schukar, chairman and president of ATXI.

Exactly a year ago, ATXI announced the completion of the $267 M, 154.5 km (96 mi) Mark Twain power transmission line, which travels west from Palmyra to Kirksville, Missouri then north to the Iowa border. In early 2018, the company also concluded work on the Spoon River project in Illinois.
