India, Uttar Pradesh, Bilhaur: EPC contractor Vikram Solar has commissioned what could be the largest single-location solar power project in Uttar Pradesh.

In a release, Vikram Solar announced that it has completed an 85 MW grid-connected solar photovoltaic plant for Central PSU NTPC Ltd, at Bilhaur in Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.

In conjunction with a similar 140 MW plant commissioned for NTPC at the same location, this combined 225 MW plant becomes the largest single-location solar power plant in Uttar Pradesh, the release said.

It may be noted that 70 MW out of the newly commissioned 85 MW, was completed on 28 March 2021. The 140 MW discussed above was completed in January 2021.

The 85 MW solar project is spread across 400 acres and used about 350,000 Vikram Solar modules. The project also includes a 33/132 kV switchyard.

The expected energy yield of this project is 200 GWh. The plant is expected to reduce 4.57 t of CO2 and can power 88,905 houses per year, the release said.

“It was an honour for us to partner with NTPC for this prestigious project. This project presented the opportunity to increase our contribution to India’s solar mission and we are proud to be chosen by NTPC to make such an effort,” said Saibaba Vutukuri, CEO of Vikram Solar.
